Beautifully written and so realistically believable it was difficult to put down. Piper Lawson is an amazing writer and her series of books (Travesty) and all her characters have captivated from book 1 to book 5...gotta read.

4,5 starsI received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.Great news for the readers who have been following the ‘Travesty’ series. We finally get Kent’s story! Yes!!! Kent has been part of the ‘Travesty’ series from the very beginning. He was the easy going, fun, loyal friend throughout the series. Always there when someone needed help. I have been looking forward to reading his story for a long time now and it was definitely worth the wait because Dahlia is a great girl, perfect for Kent.I really enjoyed this friends to lovers story. I knew from previous book that I have read that the writer Piper Lawson writes sweet, easy to read (but still steamy) romance stories and this one was the same. Kent may act like a ‘playboy’ but he’s a great friend to have. Something that Dahlia can confirm. She only knows Kent for a year but in that year they became great friends. Whenever Kent comes to LA, they meet up. But this time something is changing between them and both aren’t sure if that is good thing or a bad thing. Because one thing that Kent doesn’t do, is relationships. And that’s just something that Dahlia is looking for. But once you crossed the line between friendship to lovers, it is hard to get hard to get back to just being friends. So, what happens then? The story is told in both POV’s. ‘Satisfaction’ is a novella long story. I really loved both Kent and Dahlia character. They were loyal to their friends and they matched each other in important ways. It was great seeing the other couples back from the previous books.‘Satisfaction’ is a great read.

Another fun visit with the cast of Travesty. This time, Jordan, Lex & Ava are entrusting Dahlia with an important magazine interview and photo spread. Her success ensures she will be the store manager but there is one problem, Dahlia gets ‘stage fright’ in these types of situations. How will she conquer her fears and succeed? Kent is visiting LA and hopes to make an impression at the surfing competition with his boards otherwise his business is going nowhere. Now Kent and Dahlia have had sparks but have kept each other in the friend zone. When they need each other’s help to succeed, will they realize that they should be more than friends? I love this series and enjoyed the push-pull between Dahlia and Kent as they fought their attraction but well, then finally found love. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

SatisfactionTravesty #5Piper Lawson🌟🌟🌟🌟⭐️I believe 2019 is the year of freaking awesome books. I’ve had a 100% strike rate so far and Satisfaction is no different. I loved Kent and Dahlia. Like the story, their easy going friendship turns to sexy hotness. Although the story is a novella it was a great read filled to the brim.Kent is the smart sexy business man turned blonde god surfer. His visit to LA should be simple, but running into Dahlia whom he has listed for only makes his week even more full on. As new store manager of Travesty she is thrown in the deep end when Ava, Lex and Jordan all go away she is left to be the voice of the company to a new interview. So with a pact to help each other out, they fall for that unmistakable pull that’s always been there. Working together is one thing but falling in love only makes leaving harder.Satisfaction is Another great story to the Travesty family, if you haven’t read this series get into it, Piper has created an awesome series filled with everything from friendship, love, loss Highs, lows. Each story shows off a new couple.

This is super sexy! I loved returning to this fabulous world Piper has created. She really writes great romance between her characters--and I love the strength of her female heroes and how that's never diminished by the hero. The synopsis is slightly deceptive in the sense that there isn't a whole lot of scenes regarding the "one-week deal" but I was ok with that because we get these other great scenes between Kent and Dahlia.Would I have loved a full novel? You bet! I think you'll get more out of this book if you've read the full novels in the series because you will see how this romance has been building since the start. A lot of things are assumed here (based on your knowledge of the previous books) but I think this novella serves as a special treat for fans of the series---or a great way for new fans to get excited about diving into this fantastic series!**I received an ARC/review copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.**

Book 5 in Piper Lawson’s Travesty series is a wonderful 150 page friends to lovers novella featuring Travesty’s LA Store Assistant Manager Dahlia, and Jordan’s friend (super sexy surfer dude), Kent. A lovely story with an adorably cute couple, who, on paper are complete opposites, but in reality they’re meant to be. Both secretly crushing on the other, both helping the other in their career, both unwilling to put themselves out there. I loved the story, the writing and the characters. This book is best enjoyed having read the previous Travesty books, it can however be read as a standalone. I loved it. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review.

This was a fun and sassy novella.Easy, quick reading that brought back all the times I stayed at The Beach House and went surfing at Huntington Beach.Dal (Dahlia) is working in fashion in LA.Kent (is such a Clark Kent) is trying to sell his surf boards. He keeps things black and white with women. He keeps friends as friends.Oh, its going to get a bit messy and so much fun when they decide to help each other out.Really captures the SoCal vibe.Recommend.I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Love, love, love this book by Carrie L. Nelson! I knew nothing about Carrie before purchasing this book on Amazon but the photo on the cover was intriguing with an interesting-looking quilt and a photo of a lovely Golden Retriever sitting next to it. (Being a fellow dog lover, I thought I'd try it out. Little did I know that "Miss Rosie" in the title was actually her dog!) I was not disappointed, in fact I'm going to rate this book in the top five of my personal library of quilting books... and since I've been teaching quilting for over 30 years, I have a lot of them. Carrie's designs take scrappy quilts to a new level. She apparently loves to go crazy with lots of different fabrics but it works. All of her designs are fun and beautiful and she includes a nice variety of patterns in her book. She has many designs that are unique to her, but she also has an exceptional way of taking a traditional design and adding a new twist. (For example she has a very scrappy Irish Chain with Ohio Stars in the open spaces between the chains. Also in one quilt she took a Bear's Paw and kicked it up by piecing the "paw" section with different fabrics and adding a simple, yet effective pieced sashing and border.)Most all of her quilts in this book have a scrappy "Country" feel, but I'm sure you could easily change things up with your own color schemes. Carrie includes many wonderful diagrams in color for every quilt to help you piece each section as you go along. One great feature is that each quilt pattern is self- contained and has all the instructions you need so you don't have to keep going back to a reference page to find a particular technique. (She repeats what is needed for every quilt.) She has used strip piecing and other speed techniques throughout to make your sewing fun and quick. She also has a nice section in the back with general instructions for the beginner. My favorite part about this book is that each quilt has a brief description by the color photo explaining where she came up with the idea for the quilt and why she named it what she did. This makes it more personal and it is nice to know what the designer was thinking when they created their quilt. There wasn't a single quilt in this book that I wouldn't consider making. I highly recommend this book.

Bought the the original paperback because I took a class from the author for True Blue, one of the quilts in the book. I can’t find the book, but I wanted to see the quilting on that quilt, so I bought the kindle version. Sadly, the images are extremely low resolution, so bad I can’t even see the quilting. This review is for the kindle version, which was evidently done on the cheap. The original book is wonderful. I want my money back Amazon.

Outstanding book. I have a lot of quilt pattern books and this is my favorite one. I really like all of the patterns, which is rare for me. Clear instructions and all of the designs and color choices are lovely. Most call for the use of fat quarters, which is a huge plus, since I prefer FQ bundles when I buy fabric. Would work awesome for scrap or stash busting as well. I am planning to make at least 2 of them this coming year. Highly recommend this one for your quilting library.

I love Miss Rosie and I love this book. It has given me many fresh new ideas for my future quilt projects. I love the colors that she has in her quilts, the colors go with many home decor schemes and are practical. I am so tired of quilt patterns that have white backgrounds - not practical at all for a busy family. The instructions are well written and easy to follow. I am so impressed with Carrie Nelson's book that I will buy others that she has written.

I have done several quilts from this book. My "Double Duty" quilt done in batiks was awarded a Judge's Choice award in 2012. I bought a second book to share with a friend

Wonderful book, great patterns. This copy was a gift for my older sister, as I already have copy.

Nice book with a lot of patterns that look easy enough for me to do. I am very happy with this purchase.

This is the 2nd book I purchased by this author. I like her patterns and color choices. She also has a blog. Her instructions are easy to follow with is a must for me. I'm no pro when it comes to quilting.

We must be bolder in advancing the equity conversations on our community college campuses, and this is a valuable resource for chief diversity officers as well as other senior leaders to begin that complex work. This book provides insight for how professionals can define—and redefine—their work in this critical area. (Karen A. Stout, president and CEO, Achieving the Dream, Inc.)Inclusive Directions compels community colleges to embody the commitment to diversity and inclusion that led to the birth of the community college movement more than a century ago. Today, most community college campuses find themselves faced with the urgency of now in promoting and sustaining environments of inclusive excellence. This book provides practical, thoughtful and strategic ways to meet this call to action. It effectively amplifies the need for the chief diversity officer and provides ways to leverage these executive level positions so that college campuses, and the communities they serve, will be uplifted and transformed. (Steve Pemberton, Chief Diversity Officer, Walgreens and Author of A Chance in the World)Inclusive Directions offers a vision of community college diversity and inclusion leadership at the executive level, and justifies why CDO positions are so vital for success. This book is inspiration for the aspiring CDO and useful for current CDOs. (Jennifer DeCoste, Vice President for Strategy CREDO-Comprehensive Higher Education Consulting Firm)Two things are sure: community colleges, with 50% of college students enrolled in them, are essential to the education of our nation and the role of chief diversity officers on college campuses is absolutely vital. Inclusive Directions is focused on both of these important areas, providing practical guidance that can be adopted, adapted, and implemented on community college campuses throughout the nation and doing so in an accessible, straightforward manner. As fellow practitioners and change agents, at Kaleidoscope Group we believe in the critical impact of community colleges on the society, communities, workforce and organizational results. We also have the utmost respect for D&I leaders who relentlessly drive for the attainment of a truly diverse and inclusive college campus, despite many roadblocks and limited resources. These practitioners have demonstrated the passion, vision, intellect and heart to inspire others to embrace diversity and inclusion and necessary change. The book is an excellent overview of the role of a Chief Diversity Officer in Community Colleges. However, a lot of the information is applicable to anyone functioning in diversity leadership roles in colleges and universities. I found the assessment to be most helpful. Celebrity tell all books are still juicy even after all these years, and Karrine Steffans's book is no exception. This is a cautionary tale about what happens when you don't look beyond the bright lights and glamour of the celebrity world and face certain harsh realities, and what it does to women who come into it as a hanger on.Karrine Steffans was born in St. Thomas and ran away from home as a teenager escaping the poverty of her childhood. Like a lot who were on her path, she went into the glamorous world of hip hop, stripping and modeling in order to support herself and then later her son. She eventually went to appearing in hip hop videos and made her way into stardom, marrying and divorcing her abusive, rapper husband Kool G Rap. Her book chronicles her relationships with her ex husband, and eventually with a variety of other rappers and professional athletes, including Jay-Z, DMX, Bobby Brown, Ja Rule, Shaquille O'Neil, Usher, P Diddy. Why did she end up used, abused and hung out to dry by them (or any other)? Because she wanted to be loved, and she thought this is what you do to be loved in this world. Her most famous statement was that she had wives calling her looking for their husbands. When she told the wives that she had never even met their husband(s), their response was "Oh, well you will soon then." What does this say about the culture of celebrity and being a celebrity wife? That you have to accept certain things that ordinary women do not if you want to live this life of glitz and glamour and perks. She lived her life in all caps before age 25 like all women have who are in the rock n' roll / hip hop world, and then you grow up and realize it's not what it seems and you want a real man who deserves you rather than a guy like this. The problem is finding one. And she's still here, and has made a nice career out of writing and giving advice to women on how to be hot and sexy. She took lemons and made lemonade, for that we can admire her.

I am late when it comes to reading Confessions of a Video Vixen especially since I read Vindicated first. I was scrolling through the comments section and noticed a reader suggesting that readers pick up Confessions of a Video Vixen to read why Karrine became a person who thought violence was normal and continued to stay in and return to abusive relationships. When it comes to why Karrine wrote Confessions of a Video Vixen, I didn’t believe that Karrine woke up one day thought “I’m going to go sleep with Ja Rule, Usher, Diddy, and others, so I can write a book about it”. One lesson I have learned about stories is that there always more to them and that is the case with this book.Confessions of a Video Vixen is a story about a girl who endured physical, mental, and emotional abuse from mother and it began a cycle for Karrine that continued as she found herself in abusive relationships. Karrine’s mother put in her mind that she was unwanted, unloved, and unworthy. In my honest opinion, Karrine went looking for love in all the wrong places because of foundation built for her was weak. Karrine’s mother and ex told her constantly how she was unloved and the cycle continued in this book and her other books. In this book, Karrine also battled depression, alcoholism, and drug addiction that built on the destructive cycle she was already on.I believe one of the saddest moments in this book outside of Karrine’s mother abusing her and lowering her self-esteem was how her ex (who she met when she was 17 while stripping) kicked her out while she was pregnant because of an argument and before she left, he demanded that she cook a steak for him and the only thing he cared about was making sure his steak didn’t get burned.Another sad moment in the book was when Karrine was being put out of her home and she called a few of the guys she had hooked up with and partied with and asked them for money so she and her baby wouldn’t be homeless and they didn’t seem to care. According to her, they provided thousands of dollars for shopping sprees and other things, but when she really needed help they could only spare her a few hundred dollars. Karrine learned that these guys were just using her and turned to hustling in order to feed her son because she didn’t have any money. It was a lesson that Karrine had to learn the hard way when it came to the men she thought really cared about her.It was amazing reading the biography of Karrine’s life and reading the “more” to her story. This book is worth the five stars that I’m giving it. I see why it was a New York Best Seller. I’m glad Karrine wrote this book to show just what goes on behind the scenes at video shoots and it’s more to them than shooting fun music videos and meeting so called cool people. One last thing: I received Vindicated and read it in two days at the beginning of June and by the end of June, I had bought five of Karrine’s books. When I start reading Karrine’s books I read them in two days or less because I can’t put them down. It’s nothing for me to lose interest quickly in a book, but that’s not the case with this book because, like Vindicated it was one of the best ones I have read. I suggest this book and Karrine’s other books to anyone who is looking to read interesting, informative, and entertaining books.

I read this when it first came out and just recently I read it so I had reference to her newer book, updating us on her life. She and her story are very compelling. She is a good writer and it is packed with insider info. I think women that think being with men will get them somewhere should look at this book for what it is...she is wounded and in search. No one should read it and think it is a path to success.

I don’t know what happened in this woman’s life that would explain why she did soo many of the things she did regarding sex but she is in need of therapy and I seriously hope she gets help. Lack of self esteem has to be a major factor because she was used by all these rappers who could of cared less for her as a human being. I hope she made good bank for this tell all now that’s sweet revenge. Hope she’s doing well & wish her happiness she deserves it.

I original purchased this book Confessions of a Video Vixen for my son Jaison he wanted to read it, but I read it in one day!!!!! Interesting from the beginning to the end. Karrine Steffans shared her life with the World & this is her testimony. May hat goes off to her. I would definitely recommend that people purchase this book and read it!!!!! I couldn't put it down.!!!!!!!!!

The item arrived on time as a substitute for the ebook edition because the ebook edition costs at least twice as much. Her story really shines a light on the entertainment industry, just a warning that there may be vulgar language. If you are not comfortable, this will not be your book. I was surprised that it only took me a few days to read.

Review

“An essential read for all, especially those wondering how to be a better support system for young women with chronic illnesses.”—Library Journal, Starred Review“It is an untapped, niche area for advice that Hirsch covers with relatability, grace, and empathy.”—Publishers Weekly“A well-researched account . . . At a moment when women’s experiences in the workplace have come to the fore, Hirsch’s eye-opening study of gender-based disparity surrounding illness will hopefully help spawn a similar reckoning for women’s health.”—Kirkus Reviews“If you’re young and have a chronic illness, chronic pain, or disability of some sort, you should definitely read this book. If you don’t deal with any of those things—or know someone who does—you should absolutely read this book.”—Global Comment“I know what it means to work really hard to conceal the pain, struggle, and heartache in one’s life, to appear ‘fine’ just for the sake of other people. Because the reality of my life might have made others momentarily uncomfortable, I’d hide my own discomfort. It’s a hard habit to break and one that women have become adept at, one that is reinforced in the way our society treats, talks about, and engages with women who are ill or struggling. Thank you, Michele, for freeing us from the burden of being fine and shining a light on all the hidden pain women have been working so hard to conceal.”—Nora McInerny, podcast host for Terrible, Thanks for Asking and author of It’s Okay to Laugh

This book takes a fascinating look at young women's health from scientific, psychological, and sociological angles, but it's the beautiful writing and personal, memoir-like passages and details that make this a special joy to read. A must-read if you're interested in the topic, and it should be high on your list even if not.

I loved this book. As a woman who has dealt with a lot of health issues from my last teens until now (35), I really related to this book. It is backed up with research and that made me feel more confident that it wasn't fluff, but a true representation and validation of how I have felt over years of questioning how my own health will impact my ability to form relationships and work. Michelle Lent Hirsch shares stories of so many women with different health issues and from all different walks of life, which helps it resonate with more people. I have recommended it to several women I know who have dealt with a myriad of health issues and they have given similar feedback. Thank you for approaching a really important topic with research.

A woman who truly speaks for those of us that have medical disabilities and live with the constant struggle of what that means for others perception. I am eternally grateful for her research and this book! I want everyone I know to read this book and change how they speak to people with disabilities but especially women.

I am so surprised to find a book that echos me, understands me and my experiences in our culture as a young woman in her prime who became incurably sick.

This is an excellent book about young women and their health. What I enjoyed most is the stories intertwined in the book. Honestly, it would have been a great book without the stories due to how informative it was, but the stories made it even better.

I had such high hopes for this book as I thought it was going to speak to the underpinnings of my last 10 years. Besides a few brilliant nuggets, this book felt like a rambling collection of disorganized stories. I often found myself checking the chapter titles to try and find a reference point in long sections of text.

Most things in here will be familiar to those who have suffered early, serious illness (like me) but seeing them laid out all in one place is both horrifying and cathartic. Everyone should read...but maybe only once.

When I began reading "Invisible," knowing little more about it than the title, I had certain expectations. I expected to be let down. As a trans and Queer disabled person, I am used to reading books about healthcare that do not include people like me and my friends. I figured I would get something out of it nonetheless and gave it a go. This is the first book of this kind that I have read- that was not specifically about LGBTQ populations- that didn't let me down. Hirsch worked very hard to include ALL women dealing with disability and illness: Queer women, trans women, women of color, poor women, scientist women, women doctors, young girls, teen girls, invisibly disabled women, wheelchair using women, and also the usual cisgender heterosexual white populations these books always include. I am a transmasculine person, am 35 years old, and have dealt with chronic illnesses from childhood. I have spent most of my medical interactions read as a girl and woman or as a testosterone-taking trans person who is too sick for surgeries and still has an "F" on their chart. As a result, I related to many things in this book, even though I am not necessarily the target demographic. Many things hit home so much that I actually had to take my time reading, despite wanting to devour the book quickly. The welcome validation reading an author who was a fellow Queer person, a fellow thyroid cancer survivor, a fellow chronic pain sufferer, whose experiences of surgeries, accessing care, fear, self-doubt, and general discrimination often mirrored mine so closely, was also very difficult at times. Now that you know where I was situated as a reader, enough about me.Hirsch is an excellent writer. Her book is part memoir, part interview, and part research project. It is well organized and accessible. She weaves her own story seamlessly in and out through the different topics navigated. The book does an excellent job centering it's general target- the experiences of younger women while navigating health struggles- and also manages to hit on a great many specific intersections with age and gender. These include practitioner racism as a barrier for Black and other people of color receiving healthcare, gendered romantic relationships and how they relate to someone receiving support, class struggles labeling working class people as less ill and therefore less in need of care, capitalism's relationship to poor womens healthcare, how being a trans woman intersects with receiving healthcare for non-trans related issues, the difficulty of people with rarer conditions or in isolated areas being able to leave abusive doctors, the struggles of women with chronic illness to access reproductive healthcare, the measure of sick women by their proximity to stereotypical beauty, and many others.Hirsch understands deeply something so many books like hers miss: that all women's experiences are NOT the same just because they are women, young, or sick. Race, class, visibility, gender expression, geographic location, and many other factors are always at play simultaneously. "Invisible" is written with great intentionality from beginning to end. It is clear that Hirsch gave a lot of thought to how to present issues, how to question people, and how to share stories while also giving people the freedom to have their own opinions and assessments about their personal experiences. The way Hirsch uses language to describe illness, disability, experiences in healthcare, and womens lives comes from a well informed and educated place of respect. There was obviously a great deal of research that went into writing this book. I probably added more books to my to-read list from the sources she listed than I have from any other book I have read.I do have two negative criticisms to make of the book. One is something that really disappointed me because of how amazingly inclusive and radical the rest of the book is. Near the end of the book, Hirsch interviews two animal researchers. They explain how their abuse and killing of female animals is "feminist." There is no way that forcing female animals to get addicted to drugs, then killing and disposing of them like trash, is feminist. The appropriate response to one oppression is never to deliberately harm someone with less power to get ahead. I found calling horrific mistreatment of female animals "feminism" to be incredibly insulting. Many feminist women have written excellent books about the connections between the abuse of nonhuman animals and the abuse of women so I will not reinvent the wheel by saying more here. The other criticism I have which I am far less perturbed by was that Hirsch repeatedly used the word "femme" as a stand-in for "feminine" often in reference to cis straight women. Femme is a LGBTQ identity specific to Queer femininity. Using it to describe straight cis women further erases Queer femmes and appropriates their identity. While I feel very negatively about the way animal testing was handled by this book, the section was very short and the rest of the novel still far exceeded my expectations. As a result, the book still gets 5 stars from me because nothing is perfect.I really hope that this book attracts a large number of women with disability, illness, and/or frequent healthcare interactions who may not have thought about all of these intersecting issues before. I hope that this book feels validating for others who are used to their experiences being absent in discussions of health and healthcare. I hope that it brings the personal validation that it brought to me while reading it while simultaneously connecting us to struggles we may not personally have or experience. Hirsch took on a monumental task in hitting on so many issues in such a small space. It's 240 pages but it felt like 100 because it flows very well. I look forward to new things coming from Hirsch in the future and I definitely recommend this book to anyone working in healthcare or related fields. It should be mandatory reading for doctors and nurses.

I am a pediatrician with a career including private pediatric practice for 31 years, 11 years as a major university Department of Pediatrics Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics in a community pediatric residency training program, and most recently, 5 years practicing pediatric integrative medicine. Over these past 5 years I have worked with a large number of children who have autism and with their parents. I have found them to among the most courageous, inspiring, and determined parents I have ever encountered in my 47-year career. In the process of becoming educated about environmental causes of various chronic health problems that are common in an integrative medicine practice, always looking for pathways to correct underlying causal pathologies, I have read some 18 books about vaccines and about biomedical treatments for autism. This book, by a parent of an autistic child, and another recent book by pediatrician Paul Thomas, The Vaccine Friendly Plan (2017), have led me to reconsider much of what I had been taught and read in the area of vaccine effectiveness, safety, and especially about Informed Consent – a long-held foundational precept in the field of medicine. In fact, these two books together, along with prior exhaustive study of relevant scientific articles and other books on both sides of the issue have led me to the conclusion that standard practice of information provided to parents of children about the vaccines that are recommended fails to qualify as Informed Consent. It would more accurately be described as Uninformed Coercion. These comments are not intended to claim or imply that vaccines are “the” cause of autism, nor that children should not receive vaccines at all – but rather that there is a dire and pressing need to learn more about vaccine effectiveness and safety, and especially that informed consent and the related issue of parental choice about whether or not their child receives recommended vaccines must be modified. It has been more than eye-opening to understand that vaccines are not, in the unqualified sense, “safe and effective.” Even more so, it has been troubling to realize that we as a profession have failed to provide our patients true informed consent about vaccines. After all, the Hippocratic oath dictates “Primum non nocere” (first do no harm), and awards to families for vaccine adverse events through the VAERS system and the “Vaccine Court” since 1986 have surpassed $3.7 billion - in a system that is expensive, arduous for families to navigate, and stacked against petitioners. The US Supreme Court ruling in 2011 supporting vaccine manufacturers’ exemption from any liability for vaccine damages, because vaccines are “unavoidably unsafe” (Bruesewitz v. Wyeth LLC) is prescient.I urge all parents or parents-to-be, as well as fellow pediatricians and other health care professionals who administer vaccines, to read this book, as well as Dr. Thomas’ above-referenced work. We all owe J.D. Handley the courtesy of at least reading and considering what his extraordinary synthesis of published and credible evidence shows. I find the information he shares to be compelling, albeit in many cases quite disturbing. With a 42-year professional pediatric background and after about 7 years of intensive study of the science behind vaccines, autism, and their connection or lack thereof, I find the author’s reasoning and the sources he cites to be extraordinarily well conceived and credible. Had I not previously read about many of the lines of research and evidence he cites, I would have found his conclusions shocking to the point of outright dismissal. His sources however are of the highest credibility and his line of reasoning irrefutable. Two oft-repeated statements made by parents and professionals alike who summarily dismiss the idea that vaccines are not “safe and effective” in the unqualified sense are:• Vaccines have been proven not to cause autism.• The science is settled. The author virtually destroys each of these arguments in a manner that requires one to suspend rationality to continue to believe they are true. The prevailing cultural tendency to label any parent, or even health care professional, who questions vaccine safety or effectiveness as “anti-vaccine” and often repeating the above two unsupportable assertions, must stop. Eroding confidence and trust in vaccines among both groups can only be repaired through honest, respectful dialogue and following some of the suggestions advanced by Mr. Handley. These two books together offer a roadmap for improving vaccine safety and a wealth of ideas for how both parents and we professionals can begin to reduce the risks inherent in vaccines. They offer hope that the exponential increase in the incidence of autism to one in 32 children (CDC Fall, 2017) can be rolled back to past dramatically lower levels in the future.Thank you, Mr. Handley, and Dr. Thomas, for providing parents of children and us professionals who work with them indispensable resources for making intelligent decisions about vaccines in a manner that is true Informed Consent. I intend to recommend these two books to all parents and professionals who inquire about resources to become more informed.Samuel D. Ravenel, M.D., F.A.A.PRobinhood Integrative HealthWinston Salem, North CarolinaSeptember 20, 2018

Just when you think that you know all there is to know about the rise in Autism diagnoses, the underlying issues behind it, the politics of the Vaccine court, and whats coming – JB Handley comes out with a book that turns your knowledge on its head. I was given the opportunity to read a review copy of ‘How to End the Autism Epidemic’ a few weeks ago, and I spent labor day doing just that. It is riveting, and from someone who lives it day in and day out, that’s huge. I normally steer away from this kind of book because it causes overload.JB’s sentence in the introduction is really his purpose for the book; “I know that autism is preventable and recoverable, but we’ll never end this epidemic until we reckon with the lies and obfuscation that enable it”. This book shines a light on those lies that we keep hearing, and anyone who reads it with even a sliver of an open mind will come away from its reading with a far broader understanding of how we got to this situation and what we have to do to move on.

When two of the top Johns Hopkins autism doctors admit in depositions that 30% of autistic cases could have been prevented had someone tested a child for mitochondrial dysfunction before giving them the 12-18 month vaccines, the vaccine industry knows it's in trouble. America's Vaccine Injury Compensation program (what, you didn't know we couldn't sue vaccine manufacturers for hurting our kids?) has known for at least a decade that these children have chronic low level infections because their cells can't produce enough energy to overcome sickness. And the immune activation event of getting those 12-18 month vaccines sends them off a brain damage cliff that they're not coming back from. That means that when Americans (through their insurance premiums) pay the 75-cent tax on every vaccine component (as in, the MMR is taxed as $2.25), rather than going to pay the medical bills of children brain damaged by the MMR, they are paying for the vaccine court to commit fraud on the parents of vaccine injured children.I wouldn't recommend buying a copy of this book. I'd recommend buying several copies and giving them to your doctors, your best friends, and your siblings. This is the book to end the debate. Vaccines do cause autism.

Lawyer: Your opinion is contrary to, say, the opinion of the cdc, correct?Dr. Kelley: It is contrary to their conclusion. It is not contrary to their data. This testimony sums up the book and it’s importance. Dr. Richard Kelley is a Johns Hopkins professor of pediatrics (Kennedy Kreiger Institute) who has testified numerous times on behalf of the US government. He’s not the fringe, he’s the top of mainstream medicine on the subject, and he’s stating that though the CDC claims vaccines cannot cause autism, their own data says otherwise.People, this is BIG. From the testimony of these doctors to the deposition of Plotkin himself to the studies that show exactly how vaccines can trigger autism in susceptible children- this book is world changing for those who actually care enough to investigate it. For those brave enough to read beyond the inflammatory headlines and trolling commentary, you will learn WHY it’s happening and HOW to address this epidemic.#readthebook

I just finished reading this book. It came out today, and much of it is what we have lived as a parent of a child who has been harmed by vaccines. It's in the top 200 on Amazon- and it sold out the first day.I had to cancel my preorder because it was backlogged and got the kindle version today. Please read it.It tells the same story of thousands of parents just like me.Its a parent telling of what happened to their child and all the twists and turns of government deceit. It is truly a book that should be a movie-- with ALL of the families saying the same thingOur children changed after the shots. Please read and pray that this will stop soon.

Dee Dee Ngozi, 55, Atlanta, GA, 2016 My middle name is Ngozi, which means God’s blessing. I was speaking on HIV and my journey with HIV in the church one night and this African minister just jumped up and said “You’re Ngozi!” I said, “Uh, what do that mean?” and he said “It means God’s blessing. You have God’s blessing.” So I adopted that name when I sent my name change in and then I had my last name changed to my husband’s and then we was married. I served collard greens, and ham hock, and baked cakes and he’s just as happy as a lark after the twenty-five years we’ve been together. This coming into my real, real fullness of knowing why I was different is because I was expressing my spirit to this world. And I didn’t know how God felt about it but I believe in God and I have a deep spiritual background and I talk with the Holy Spirit constantly who’s taken me from the Lower West Side doing sex work to being at the White House. I read about this book when select photographs from it went viral on social media, the exquisite images within the hardbound coffee table book only tell part of the story. It is essential reading for anyone who is transgender, gender non conforming, knows or loves someone who is, or is just a compassionate and enlightened person who is interested in stories about the human spirit. While the media remains youth obsessed, and trans media stories often oooh and aaah about passability, most of the subjects here are seniors, and few have the passability of Janet Mock or Laverne Cox. These are people who struggled with their truths long before Time magazine declared the transgender tipping point. People who are finding their way into their authenticity, proudly wearing the grey hairs, wrinkles, and other signs of their long and traveled lives. Dignified, regal, and beautiful, always; sometimes glamorous; but this is not a book of boudoir shots -- its a celebration of trans reality. While I'm primarily interested in the stories of trans women, to find similarities, differences, inspiration and wisdom as it parallels my family experience, the stories of trans men help me better understand their lives as well. Every person, every story, every history matters. These are just a few.

I like everything about this book. My spouse, The Reverend Dr. David Weekley, is page 72😍This is a powerful book, giving dignity to a severely marginalized population of human beings. The photographs are wonderful and each persons story so unique. Jess and Vanessa did a wonderful job in their interviews, of drawing out each persons authenticity and life journey. It is an excellent educational tool for persons unfamiliar with transgender issues. And an encouraging one for younger Transgender people. Strength and hope abound in this work. Thankyou Jess and Vanessa😍😍😍😘

The title alone cannot convey the importance of this new book. It is both a work of art,and a work of literary accomplishment. It should belong in the libraries of all colleges and graduate schools which support LGBTQ+ curricula, as well as libraries supporting undergraduate and graduate schools of art , photography, design & related fields.Kudos to Jess Dugan and Vanessa Fabbre!Bill Cohen, Publisher & Editor-in-ChiefHarrington Park Press

I heard about this book on NPR one day when the hosts were interviewing the author. I have a Transgender son and thought it might be a nice Christmas gift. This book is so beautiful. The stories, and the photographs are inspiring; touching; sad; I experienced a whole range of emotions reading about the lives of people who are true trailblazers for others who will follow.I can not wait to give this to my son on Christmas morning. I’m so grateful to all the people who shared their stories and have helped, in their own way to make my own sons journey a little easier.

We bough this book and are keeping it on our kitchen table and we read about a person or 2 each night at dinner. The book is very enlightening and inspiring and well done.

This is an awesome, ground breaking book about transgender and gender non-conforming people over the age of 50 and their stories. I should know, I’m in it.

Great Coffee Table Book
