There are so many things to like about this story. First, it's a complete novel. What I mean is that there are a full cast of characters, and the author doesn't resort to stereotypes. It's also a complex novel that deals with a lot of issues. Issues that the author works with include neglectful parents, loss of a parent, substance abuse, sexual promiscuity, religious intolerance, bigotry, being a stranger in someone's home, therapist/patient relationships, a budding romance, and the standard high school drama. While there are a lot of elements, they're all examined deftly and with intimacy that really bring the reader into the situation. There are also a lot of subtle elements in the novel that can only be really appreciated after a second read. As an example, the fact that Lauren's friend Caitlyn drinks too, but is sober at the end of the night.I also like that this story dealt with a character in a neglectful family. I've been wishing for a YA novel that would tackle this subject. I love that Lauren was resilient enough and able to move beyond her past to do what she needed to be a healthy adult. In that regard, I think it's really encouraging. In conclusion, I very much look forward to reading other works by this author.

I really liked it - I like how Lauren develops and grows, and how her relationship with Cameron develops over time, and how Cameron develops as well. David Marshall was more interesting than I thought he'd be, and not all of the relationships get resolved in a happy way, so that's realistic too. Other things, like racism, etc are also discussed, so that's good to see that openly talked about. I also actually believe how Lauren feels as she changes and comes to terms with things in her life - about herself, about Cameron, etc. The only small criticism I would have is that Cameron's mother Wendy doesn't really 'appear' until near the end, and then she's a bit predictable. But overall, I liked the story and the main characters quite a lot.

This heartwarming story is about a bad girl who is sentenced to therapy after she stops going to school, or much else, after the death of her movie star mom and the "perfect" good girl with more issues than the bad one and how falling in love with each other heals both of their tattered souls. It is fantastic, frankly, and I had trouble putting it down. Siera Maley has a gift for crafting characters who are deeply flawed in realistic ways and putting them into stories where they shine like gemstones on a sunny beach. Lorren and Cammie are marvelous characters and their story is touching, sweet, and heartwarming.

Another Winner. L A girl Lauren gets into trouble and gets sent to farm in Georgia where they help troubled teens. But instead of the family helping her, she ends up helping them. And finding love with the family's daughter. . I absolutely love this book. Get it. You won't be disappointed.

Lots of good well developed characters and the story line was great. Relationships were also well developed and not rushed. I felt at times the main character was too well spoken for an 18 year old but that did not distract from the story. I think this story could easily turn into two part series located in New York.

I've read Maley's other books and they led me here. Really liked this one. Funny and an nice change with the fact that the main character, Lauren, isn't struggling with sexuality but rather it's her love interest Cammie. The relationship is a good slow burn, and the friendship between Lauren and her best friend is also a nice touch and adds to character development. Recommended.

Cuuuute. Really fun. Low on the drama, high on the fluff. Some homophobic stuff hit really close. But that's the minority.

It's been awhile since I've read a book about young love that was actually quite accurate. This book was great and I didn't want to put it down. Can't wait for more from this author!
